Rockstar Games has unveiled GTA 5 Enhanced, the latest iteration of the beloved Grand Theft Auto 5, released exclusively for PC in March 2025. This version mirrors the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Expanded and Enhanced experience launched in 2022. While it incorporates some commendable enhancements, such as ray tracing technologies, there remains considerable room for improvement.
Gamers can still enjoy captivating gameplay, which many argue is even more enjoyable than before. However, there seems to be potential that has not yet been fully realized, particularly in the 2025 PC release. In this article, we will explore five features that are notably absent from GTA 5 Enhanced.
Five Features Missing in GTA 5 Enhanced (2025)
1) Limited Graphical Upgrades

While GTA 5 Enhanced has introduced certain visual improvements—such as Ray Traced Ambient Occlusion and better shadows and reflections—the overall graphical upgrade feels minimal. In fact, it aligns closely with the enhancements seen in the 2022 console ports. Additionally, modding communities, especially those producing content like NaturalVision Evolved, have demonstrated how much can be achieved through graphical improvements. It’s disappointing that Rockstar has not capitalized on this potential in their latest PC offering.
2) Absent Dense Vegetation
Fun fact: A lot more vegetation was originally planned for GTA 5’s map, but it was scaled down due to PS3’s hardware limitations. That’s why there is so much empty grass-filled land in Los Santos and the rest of Blaine County! by u/BlackDabiTodoroki in GTA
The expansive world of Grand Theft Auto 5 encompasses the vibrant city of Los Santos and the wilderness of Blaine County. Although some regions show significant vegetation, many areas remain starkly underdeveloped. Development images hinted at a much greener map, which contrasts sharply with the released version, likely restricted by the technology available during the initial launch on older consoles. However, considering the capabilities of modern systems, it’s surprising that this version has not incorporated more lush areas, which could dynamically enhance the in-game environment.
3) Lack of Text Chat in Multiplayer

Since its launch, GTA 5 Enhanced PC has not included text chat functionality in its multiplayer component, Grand Theft Auto Online. This oversight has frustrated players, as effective communication is essential, especially during complex missions and heists. As time passes, there is growing concern over whether this crucial feature will ever be implemented.
4) Absence of Crossplay Support
Crossplay has become a sought-after feature in contemporary multiplayer gaming, allowing players from different platforms to engage in the same environment. Unfortunately, the feature remains absent from GTA 5 Enhanced, following the trend of its predecessor, GTA 5 Online. Moreover, Rockstar has indicated that crossplay between Legacy and Enhanced versions on PC is not feasible, further limiting player interaction.
5) Inconsistent Vehicle Damage Effects

The vehicle damage system in GTA 5 is noticeably less detailed compared to its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 4. Cars often sustain minimal visual damage following high-impact collisions, which detracts from realism. While technical constraints from the original release may explain this shortcoming, the lack of advancements in newer iterations raises questions about the franchise’s future approach to vehicle dynamics. Many players are left hoping that GTA 6 will address this issue more effectively.
