Overview of Upcoming Changes to Xbox Game Pass
As of May 31, 2025, Microsoft has revealed that a notable selection of games will be departing from Xbox Game Pass, including highly acclaimed titles such as Cassette Beasts and Remnant 2. Additionally, the PC Game Pass will also be bidding farewell to the intriguing horror puzzle game Firework.
Recent Departures and New Arrivals
This announcement follows a previous round of departures on May 15, which saw beloved titles such as Starbreeze Studios’ adventure game Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Shiro Games’ strategy title Dune Spice Wars, and Rundisc’s Chants of Sennaar leave the service. Additionally, indie sensations like Hauntii and The Big Con were also retired from Game Pass.
The upcoming games exiting on May 31 include:
- Cassette Beasts
- Humanity
- Remnant 2
- Slayers X: Terminal Afterthought: Vengeance of the Slayer
- Firework (PC Game Pass)
Among these, Remnant 2 stands out as a particularly significant game. This soulslike shooter, offered to subscribers since November 2023, allows players to choose from 14 unique character classes and features a dynamic gameplay structure driven by random generation. With strong ratings from both professionals (86% on OpenCritic) and players (80%), it has been well-received within the gaming community.
Farewell to Fan Favorites
Also on the departure list is the fusion-driven Cassette Beasts, which has captured the attention of gamers for two years. Players are encouraged to take advantage of the remaining time to enjoy strategic puzzle platformer Humanity and the retro FPS Slayers X: Terminal Afterthought: Vengeance of the Slayer before they disappear from the Game Pass library. Furthermore, PC Game Pass users will bid adieu to the chilling Firework at the end of the month.
What’s Next for Xbox Game Pass
Despite these departures, Xbox Game Pass is set to welcome an impressive lineup of five new games in June 2025. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s arriving:
- The Alters – A unique survival game where players navigate a hostile planet alongside cooperative clones, releasing on June 13.

- FBC Firebreak – A cooperative FPS scheduled for June 17.
