The narrative of 100M revolves around a gifted runner, Togashi, who dominates every 100m race during his elementary school years. However, his routine is disrupted by the arrival of a new student, Komiya, in sixth grade. Despite lacking proper technique, Komiya’s relentless determination inspires Togashi, who decides to coach him to cultivate his competitive spirit. As time passes, their paths cross again, this time pitting them against one another on the racetrack, where they both discover their true selves. Created by the acclaimed mangaka Uoto, known for Orb: On the Movements of the Earth, 100M was originally serialized in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket app starting November 2018.

The anime film 100M is directed by Kenji Iwaisawa at ROCK’N’ROLL MOUNTAIN, an animation studio known for its artistry, including ON-GAKU: Our Sound (2019). Keisuke Kojima takes the helm as chief animation director, overseeing character designs alongside art director Keikankun Yamaguchi. The newly released trailer unveils the musical talent of composer Hiroaki Tsutsumi, famed for his score in Jujutsu Kaisen. The character roles of Togashi and Komiya will be brought to life by actors Tori Matsuzaka and Shōta Sometani, who gained recognition for his portrayal of Minoru Okabe in Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume (2023).

Mark your calendars for the film’s debut in Japanese theaters on September 19, with GKIDS handling its North American release in October.
